October 2004 - Free Laser Safety Calculation Software
Lasermet and GL Services have released a new demonstration version of LaserSafe PC available for free download from Lasermet. The software is fully functional with the exception that it will only calculate at 532 nm. All the standard features are available which means that it will calculate for Point Sources, Extended Sources, Fibre Optics, LEDs, Diffuse Reflection and Scanned Beams, and will give the full range of results calculation of MPEs, AELs, NOHD, ENOHD, Classification, L number and Optical density requirements etc.
The free demonstration software has been designed to be useful in it’s own right and will obviously be of particular use to people using 532 nm lasers or other visible wavelengths. It will also be of some use to those using UV or IR lasers and will show all laser users the power of the complete LaserSafe PC software.
LaserSafe PC is approaching it’s tenth anniversary and has for a many years been the most widely used laser safety software in Europe. By providing this free tool Lasermet & GL Services hope to show even more laser users and laser safety officers how they can save themselves many hours of work and get accurate answers at the touch of a button.
March 2004 - Lasermet offer M rated eyewear for femto & pico second lasers.
Laser safety specialists Lasermet, in conjunction with LaserVision, are now able to offer M rated eyewear conforming to EN 207 for femto and pico second lasers*. Until recently, users of such lasers have been unable to purchase eyewear which was specified to protect against these lasers, which left employers and Laser Safety Officers in a difficult position. The availability of such eyewear now provides a solution to this dilemma.
Eyewear is available for ultra short pulsed lasers operating in the 700 - 900 nm wavelength region in either goggle or spectacle frame style. M rated eyewear for 315 - 532 and 1045 - 1100 nm will also be available very shortly. As far as we are aware this is the only eyewear in existence with an M rating under EN 207. March 2004 - Lasermet / LaserVision Collaboration.
Laser safety specialists Lasermet have reached an agreement with LaserVision to market their range of laser safety eyewear. Lasermet feel that the LaserVision range of high quality, high protection level, glass filter eyewear will offer an excellent compliment to the polycarbonate filter eyewear already offered by Lasermet and will further extend their array of laser safety products and services.
Added to the existing Glendale, Zeiss and Noir eyewear ranges, this gives Lasermet the largest range of laser protective eyewear available anywhere in Europe. The online catalogue enables laser users to browse the extensive array of frame styles and filters, access technical data if required and choose the eyewear most suited to their application. For those requiring guidance or further technical help, this is available by phone or email.
